If you will be using the vehicle to carry passengers for hire and reward not only will you need to be licensed by your local authority but you will also have to purchase Taxi Insurance – Taxi Insurance will sometimes be referred to by the following terms: Taxi Insurance, Private Hire Insurance, Public Hire Insurance, Hire and Reward Insurance, Minicab Insurance or Black Cab Insurance.
In addition to your taxi vehicle insurance you may also wish to purchase some extras. These might include brakedown insurance or possibly public liability insurance.
Some insurers may also offer plated courtesy vehicles so you can continue working in the event of a non fault claim. For an extra premium some insurers may also guarantee you a plated courtesy vehicle for 14 days in the event of a fault claim.
