Westminster Motor Insurance Association Limited is a Motor Insurer authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority. The Company is a niche market motor insurer trading predominantly in the London Taxi and licensed Hire and Reward arena.

Westminster was incorporated in 1948 by members of the London Hackney Carriage community that raised the capital required to meet the necessary requirements to start trading. The purpose was to offer a specialised policy of Motor Insurance to taxi drivers at preferential premiums. In 1959 the company expanded into the provinces of the UK taking the principles developed in London out to the major cities. Since that time the Company has continued to use a network of agencies to sell and administer business all over the country. The policy has evolved as the licensed trade has over the years. The licensing of Private Hire vehicles in the provinces showed the adaptability of the product to other defined markets. Privately owned until 2002, Westminster became a wholly owned subsidiary of the Santam Group of Companies in January 2003.

The principles set out in 1948 still hold true today that Westminster is and will continue to be a provider of tailor-made products for the Hire and Reward trade.
